Located nearly 350 miles off Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, Cocos Island is a remote UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s most legendary destinations for scuba diving. Surrounded by nutrient-rich waters and dramatic underwater seamounts, the island is famous for incredible encounters with schooling hammerheads, manta rays, whale sharks, dolphins, turtles, and other pelagic marine life. Wild, remote, and spectacular both above and below the surface, Cocos is truly a bucket-list adventure for divers.

Trip Overview

Join us for an unforgettable 10-night liveaboard adventure to the legendary Cocos Island, Costa Rica. Aboard the Undersea Hunter, we’ll explore some of the world’s most remote and spectacular dive sites, surrounded by pristine Pacific waters and incredible marine life. Expect encounters with schooling hammerheads, rays, sharks, turtles, and plenty of other pelagic species as we experience Cocos the way it was meant to be explored — underwater, off the beaten path, and with an incredible group of divers.

Accomodation

After hundreds of diving expeditions, the Sea Hunter has evolved into the consummate hybrid of luxury and utility. This 115-foot (35 meters) cruiser boasts a global reach, and was specifically conceived for long-range journeys to remote destinations like Cocos Island.

The spacious craft has everything a serious diver or photographer could ask for.

Scuba Diving

Cocos Island is one of the world’s premier destinations for big-animal diving. Far out in the Pacific Ocean, its nutrient-rich waters attract huge schools of hammerhead sharks, manta rays, whale sharks, rays, turtles, and other pelagic species. During our trip aboard the Undersea Hunter, we’ll enjoy three dives per day, exploring dramatic pinnacles, deep walls, and legendary dive sites where strong currents bring an incredible variety of marine life.

Species

Cocos Island is teeming with marine life including 12 species of sharks, 4 types of rays, 4 species of sea turtles and 16 different marine mammals. Divers commonly encounter large schools of hammerheads and jacks, tiger and Galapagos sharks, marble rays, frogfish and octopuses. The island is home to at least 27 endemic fish species, including the Cocos rosy-lipped batfish.
